ILLUSTRATION / BOARD GAME

Tavern Quest

A personal board game project about drinking potions,
fighting goblins and getting cool points.

About Tavern Quest

My friends and I play a stupid amount of board games. My friend Søren showed me some notes about a game he was thinking up himself and I just started drawing.

It’s still in early development but Tavern Quest is going to be an epic worker placement game about a group of adventurers , who can’t seem to stop adventuring, even when they’re drinking in a tavern.

Meet the characters

Hobgoblin Ruffian

One of the characters a player might have the misfortune to share a table with. He’s a real bully and goes after anyone with an endurance level below 3. A player can try to make a charisma check against him but if they fail, it’s brawl time! His interests include swords, loot and more swords.

Gruthar the Grudgeholder

A player can challenge Gruthar to a drinking competition, if they feel their endurance is high enough. If the player wins they get some gold and a couple of cool points, but they also become the victim of a Dwarven grudge, which makes all future dwarf interactions tougher to win!

The Three Legged
Bunny Merchant

The Bunny Merchant once saved an entire wagonload of peasant children, but lost his foot in the process. It got run over and bounced off into the forest and he was never able to find it. Little did he know that an eagle had flown away with it. The eagle, in turn, accidentally dropped it right above the chimney of a cosy tavern. The foot ping-ponged down the chimney and ended up in a dusty corner of the tavern, where it still is, waiting for our players to find it. If a player reunites the Bunny Merchant with his long-lost foot something very special happens.

Human Charlatan

One of the playable characters! He’s a sneaky bastard and the richest character in the game. Never having worked an honest hour in his life, he relies on his charm and wit to con people (and bunnies) out of their hard earned cash (and limbs).

Behold the potions!

Tavern Quest is a fantasy drinking game, so we need some fantastical looking beverages and potions. These are some of the cards that’ll be in the final version of the game.
